Get ready for a truly cinematic experience on your desktop: LG Electronics is introducing a new 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide monitor (Model UM95) monitor at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Also available in a 29-inch version, the UM95 will offer QHD resolution for the UltraWide format (3440 x 1440 pixels) with in-plane switching (IPS) technology to further elevate the picture quality via superior color accuracy, motion clarity and off-axis viewing. UltraWide monitors are not only embraced by computer power users, who welcome the ability to multitask across all that extra real estate, but they offer a more theatrical presentation of movies at a quasi-CinemaScope aspect ratio. (No more black letterbox bars!) So they really are perfect for both work and play.
The UM95 supports a variety of advanced connectivity options, including Thunderbolt™ 2 that supports high-resolution displays and high-performance data devices at the same time through a single port, with transfer speeds up to 20Gbps. That’s enough to view and edit raw 4K video while also backing up the same file. Higher-resolution and multi-monitor viewing is possible thanks to DisplayPort 1.2 support. The UM95 monitor also arrives with True Color Finder calibration software to ensure optimal color expression, and is capable of reproducing 99 percent of the sRGB color palette.
In addition to the UM95, LG will be showcasing other 21:9 UltraWide monitors such as the leaner and more affordable UM65, available in 25-, 29- and 34-inch screen sizes, plus the UB65, boasting an ergonomic design and versatile adjustments just right for the office. With all of the attention given to “Ultra HD 4K” resolution last year, visitors to the LG booth will surely be excited to see for themselves our new Real 4K (Model 31MU95) monitor, with 4096 x 2160 screen resolution ideal for the most demanding professional, and the Color Prime (Model 27MB85) monitor. LG’s entire IPS 21:9 UltraWide series is Mac-compatible and supports HDMI.
LG’s IPS monitors have already garnered international acclaim for both their picture quality and bold designs. Honors include Germany’s Plus X Award, Red Dot Design Award and Japan’s G Mark, plus Intertek’s Quality and Performance Mark (QPM).
