2014 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award

A long-time partner of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR program, LG believes we all play a significant role in protecting our environment.

We were incredibly proud when we won the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award for the first time in 2012, and then again in 2013, for our efforts to manufacture and promote products with superior energy efficiency. Since first winning the award we’ve strived to continuously expand efforts to help consumers fight climate change and protect the environment.

This year LG has been recognized by EPA with a 2014 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year-Sustained Excellence Award, the highest distinction bestowed upon ENERGY STAR partners who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to helping consumers become increasingly more energy efficient. In addition, we are one of only 10 companies out of tens of thousands of ENERGY STAR Partners to be honored this year with the inaugural 2014 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year-Climate Communications Award.

Here are some highlights of our accomplishments:

Innovation and savings

We pride ourselves on developing the most innovative energy efficient products that not only provide our customers with superior performance, but also help them save time, money and energy. For example, our TurboWash technology helps you do laundry in less time than ever, saving up to 20 minutes per load while reducing energy costs. And thanks to LG’s state-of-the-art linear compressors most LG’s refrigerators are ENERGY STAR certified, which means they are 20 percent more energy-efficient than models that meet the federal minimum energy efficiency standard.

Going the extra mile

In 2013, more than 100 LG products were recognized with the ENERGY STAR “Most Efficient” designation. If you’re not familiar with ENERGY STAR “Most Efficient,” this distinction recognizes exceptional products that represent the leading edge in energy efficient products for a particular year. With LG’s increased focus on energy efficiency products, it shouldn’t surprise you that last year consumers purchased more than 1.6 million of our energy efficient products awarded with the distinction.

Change is good

In addition to developing the most innovative energy efficient appliances and electronics possible, we also work hard to ensure consumers understand how they can help do their part to fight climate change. In 2013, LG reached tens of millions of consumers with a nationwide public education and community outreach campaign about energy efficiency. This effort was designed to help consumers understand the positive impact their energy-efficient behaviors can have on the environment. To further educate and promote green living to our consumers, we have created a Living Green page on

William Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics USA, commented: “As a long-time ENERGY STAR partner, LG is extremely proud to be recognized by the EPA for our ongoing leadership and long-term commitment to energy efficiency through both the ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence and Climate Communications awards.”

With LG, it’s all possible. And with LG and ENERGY STAR, you don’t have to sacrifice performance or style to have energy efficiency. LG Electronics’ accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 29.
