Vacuum-dust sculptures?! Rethink trash.

Fall is crisp, fall is fresh, fall is… crafty! Channel your earthy inner artist and get down and dirty as you use discarded everyday objects to create works of art. You can reinvent garbage and turn it into something useful—how green is that?!

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

You know those paper grocery bags you’ve got lying around? You can actually turn them into useful kitchen accessories. A crafty weaving technique, a brown bag, a couple of artsy products, and voilà: you’ve got yourself a cool, upcycled placemat. You’ll be proud of yourself every time you put a plate on it.

Are you a wine lover? Well, after you check out these crafty endeavors, you may want to hold on to your bottles (after the wine is gone, that is). Empty wine bottles can make lovely vases as is, but if you want to dress them up a bit, just paint them. Or if you prefer to get fancier and go with the earthy fall theme, use some twine to wrap them as simply or as intricately as you like… Cork art: yeah, it’s a thing; it’s funky and unique, and you can make it your own. Check out this cork sculpture tutorial. Plus, you can be more practical with your corks and make a corkboard—you know, the kind on which you pin photos, notes, etc. Wine can be enjoyable and useful!

Want to get your kids focused on a fun creative project? (A great alternative to bouncing off the walls!). “Smashed soda can animals” are simply used soda cans, reborn as cute animal friends—quite an inventive way to teach your children about recycling. Just gather the cans, plus a few other materials, and follow the simple steps.

There are tons of upcycled craft options out there—from kids’ activities to beautiful home projects. Take a look at some ideas on Pinterest and get crafty!

Now, clean up the mess.

Artistry can sure get messy. You’re snipping and snapping all over the place, what do you expect? Not to worry: the LG Canister Vacuum with Kompressor® technology will clean it all up in no time. DualForce+™ suction picks up dirt from both sides, in addition to the traditional center section, so it catches dirt and dust from a wide surface area, and it does so quickly. HEPA filtration captures dust mites, pollens, and other allergens, so that you can breathe easy after your eco-friendly crafting. Finally, the vacuum’s Kompressor® system compresses dust intake, allowing you to store up to three times more dirt—and instead of messy vacuum bags, there’s an easy-to-dispose-of cake of dust when you empty it…

Hmm, cakes of dust can be reused as artwork, can’t they? This may be a tongue-in-cheek idea, but some artists have actually done it. Behold these sculpted vacuum-dirt houses—they’re pretty cool, aren’t they? Upcycled art has no end.
