Gifts worth splurging on

f you’re feeling generous this gift-giving season, keep in mind that quality is better than quantity. Luxe items come with price tags to match, but here are some “worth-every-penny” gift ideas even a miser would splurge on.

Wrap someone up in the cozy comfort of cashmere. Whether it’s a sweater, an accessory set, or a bathrobe, nothing feels more luxurious to the touch than cashmere. Soft, light, and oh so warm cashmere comes from the belly of goats that live in the extremely cold regions of Mongolia, where temps dip below -40°F. In the spring, the goats are combed to remove their fine underhair. The finest cashmere consists only of the whitest, longest, thinnest hair from the underfleece, while lower-quality cashmere may be mixed with the shorter, coarser hair from the animal’s outer coat.

Quality cashmere is an investment piece. Aside from a not-so subtle price tag, here are some ways to detect the real deal:

  • Check to be sure the label says 100% cashmere. Items that say “Cashmere Touch” or “Cashmere Feeling” are blends that include other fibers like wool, silk, or even bamboo. They are not 100% cashmere.
  • High-grade cashmere should feel ultra-soft, almost as if it were melting in your hand.
  • Look for a tight weave and apply the stretch test. Stretch the garment a bit; it should spring right back.
  • Plies are important. Good cashmere items should be at least two-ply, sometimes more.

Personal chef

Give a most delicious gift; let them unwrap the tasty, timesaving benefits of a personal chef. These services are set up to do the shopping, the chopping, and the cooking for a week, a month, or longer. A stocked fridge and spotless kitchen would be a huge help for any busy mom on your list.

Online gym membership

Help someone hit the virtual gym with an at-home, online gym membership. An Internet connection is all they’ll need to workout whenever it’s convenient for them. But if you really want to get their heart rate up—put a bow on a new LG OLED 4K Smart TV. Heralded by CNET on August 23, 2016 as “the best picture money can buy,” the sleek, super-slim style has wide viewing angles and unparalleled picture quality. The high-quality features like cinematic sound and web0S 3.0 streaming functionality, can turn any online workout into a sensory workout, as well.

Smart luggage

Bring more tech to the modern traveler on your list. The latest in luxury luggage combines style and smarts, with sleek designs and innovative features. From weight sensors to battery charging and remote locking capabilities, these new cases are taking travel to new heights. And lost luggage wouldn’t be lost for long because with built-in GPS, your on-the-go traveler will be able to track their suitcase anywhere in the world. Adventure awaits!
